WELCOME TO GHANA CARIBBEAN ASSOCIATION

Welcome to the official website of GHANA CARIBBEAN ASSOCIATION. We are dedicated to fostering cultural connections and community among Ghanaian and Caribbean individuals. This is a place where you can learn more about our organization, events, and initiatives. Join us as we celebrate the rich heritage and traditions of Ghana and the Caribbean.

The Ghana Caribbean Association was established in 1964, making it one of the longstanding diaspora organizations in Ghana. It was originally formed to bring together Caribbean nationals — from places like Jamaica, Barbados, Guyana, and others — who had moved to Ghana for work, study, or personal reasons.

Over the decades, the group has evolved into a broader cultural and community organization, hosting events, gatherings, and celebrations that showcase Caribbean culture and strengthen community bonds with Ghanaians. Leadership roles within the association (such as President and Vice President) are often held by members of the Caribbean diaspora who live in Ghana and are active in promoting the group’s work.

OUR MISSION

Fostering Cultural Connections

At GHANA CARIBBEAN ASSOCIATION, our mission is to redefine the way we connect and build a strong community among Ghanaian and Caribbean individuals. We provide a platform for cultural exchange, events, and initiatives that celebrate the unique traditions and heritage of both Ghana and the Caribbean.

Cultural Diplomacy & Global Diaspora Networking

In the 2020s, the Association has operated within a broader Afro-Caribbean revival context marked by diaspora tourism, cultural diplomacy, and transatlantic partnerships. It continues organizing cultural events, community networking, and honors for Caribbean figures visiting Ghana—such as recognition of Jamaican athlete Asafa Powell during a 2023 cultural event. The Association today positions itself as a six-decade-old institution promoting collaboration, culture, and diaspora engagement between Ghana and the Caribbean.
